Noblestar Construction Joins the Ottawa Construction Association
Noblestar Construction is now a member of the Ottawa Construction Association. In this post, we explain what that means for your commercial fit-out in Ottawa and share the checks we recommend before hiring any contractor.
For us, this isn't a badge for the website. It's a commitment. When you hand a contractor the keys to your restaurant, clinic or retail space, you're trusting them with your money, your timeline and your opening day. You should be able to check who you're hiring, and membership gives you one more way to do that.
What is the Ottawa Construction Association?
The Ottawa Construction Association was founded in 1889. It's one of the largest regional construction associations in Canada, with more than 1,100 member firms working across the region. Its focus is the non-residential side of the industry: commercial, industrial and institutional building. That's the work we do every day.
The association promotes industry best practices built on fairness, ethics, teamwork and service. It also has a formal ethics and membership discipline policy that members are expected to follow.
Why we joined
We started Noblestar in 2022 and have spent the last few years building commercial fit-outs across Ottawa. As we've grown, we wanted to hold ourselves to the same standards as the most established firms in the city.
Three things matter most to us, and membership supports all of them.
Integrity. Our clients should never have to wonder whether we'll do what we said. Joining an association with a published ethics policy means we're accountable to more than just our own word.
Quality. Membership gives us access to the association's training programs, including health and safety courses, and to industry resources that keep our team current on how work should be done.
Customer service. A fit-out is stressful. You're paying rent before you've opened. Clear communication, honest timelines and a contractor who picks up the phone make a real difference. Being part of Ottawa's construction community helps us stay connected to the trades and suppliers that keep projects moving.

You can now find Noblestar Construction in the Ottawa Construction Association member directory. We're also a Better Business Bureau Accredited Business. Between the two, you can see who we are and how we've treated clients before you ever sign a contract.
How to check any commercial contractor before you hire
Whether you hire us or someone else, these are the checks we'd do if we were in your shoes:
1. Look them up in an industry directory. The Ottawa Construction Association directory is a good place to start.
2. Read their Better Business Bureau profile. Look at how they respond to complaints, not just the rating.
3. Ask for a Workplace Safety and Insurance Board clearance certificate. Every trade working on our sites carries its own coverage.
4. Ask for a certificate of liability insurance. It should be current and name the right company.
5. Get a written contract with a clear scope. Vague quotes lead to change orders.
6. Ask who pulls the building permit. Your contractor should handle it and know the process.
7. Call a reference from a similar project. A restaurant owner can tell you more about a restaurant build than anyone else.
